Privacy Policy
This policy applies to the Metrico mobile app for iOS and Android and to the website at metricoapp.com. In this policy, “we” means the developer who publishes Metrico on the App Store and Google Play.
Metrico is a tool for counting things together with other people. We collect only what the app needs to work. We do not show ads, we do not sell personal data, and we do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
What we collect
- Account. Your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code. There is no password.
- Profile. An optional display name and an optional profile picture that you choose to add.
- Challenge content. Challenges you create or join, the counts you add to them, your membership in them, and invite links you generate.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, a report with the error details, your device model, operating system version and app version is sent so we can fix the bug. These reports are not used to track you.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard request logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the service running.
Device permissions
- Camera and photos. Used only when you choose to set a profile picture. The picture you pick is the only thing uploaded.
- Notifications. Used for optional reminders you set up. Reminders are scheduled on your device. We do not run a push notification server and do not collect notification tokens.
- Clipboard. When you copy an invite link, the app writes it to your clipboard. When you open an invite from the website, the website may put a Metrico invite code on your clipboard so a fresh install can pick it up. On launch the app checks whether the clipboard contains such a code. Nothing else on your clipboard is read, stored or sent anywhere.
How we use it
We use your data to run the service: to sign you in, to store your challenges and counts, to show shared totals to the members of a challenge, to keep the service secure, and to fix crashes. We process your data to provide the service you asked for and, for crash reports and security logs, on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and safe.
Who can see it
- Other members. People in the same challenge see your display name, your profile picture, and the counts you add to that challenge. Anyone who receives an invite link can see the challenge name, the inviter’s display name and the current total before joining.
- Service providers. We rely on Supabase for authentication, database and file storage, Sentry for crash reporting, and Vercel for hosting the website. They process data on our behalf and under their own security commitments.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
Your data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, your memberships and your counts are removed, and the account is deleted. Residual copies in backups and crash reports are removed within a limited period afterwards. Counts you added to shared challenges may remain reflected in the total without being linked to you.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time inside the app: open Settings and choose Delete account. You can also email us at the address below and we will delete it for you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, email us.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to the backend is restricted, and sign-in uses one-time codes instead of passwords. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Metrico is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
